As I was preparing my presentation for the 25th DMEC Annual Conference, I had a chance to reflect on the influence DMEC has had on me both personally and professionally for the 12+ years I’ve been a member.

I first became involved with DMEC when attended my first DMEC Annual Conference as a tag-along to my boss who had been a long-time member.  I was new to the absence and disability world, having only learned what FMLA is three months before and what DMEC is a few weeks before the conference.  I was immediately impressed by the content of the sessions that were invaluable to my education as a newbie, but also by the passion of its members for improving health and productivity.

Throughout the years, I’ve attended countless Annual and Compliance conferences and local chapter events, meeting many wonderful clients, mentors and life-long friends.  The absence world has changed dramatically since, but DMEC has provided it’s members invaluable leadership and information to keep in step.  I’ll always cherish all the spirited conversations over coffee (and drinks) that have helped AbsenceSoft innovate over the years.

So, thank you to all the DMEC leadership and members who have contributed to my professional development and enriched my life.  I look forward to seeing you all again in Anaheim next week.
